“In the spirit of gentleness…”

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” (Gal 6:1)

Here is what to do when you encounter someone falling into a ditch. “A spirit of gentleness” is an important phrase. It specifically describes the heart attitude of the person handling the confrontation.

Gentleness is the perfect term for our attitude toward those who have made mistakes or failed. Gentleness doesn’t mean niceness or politeness.

The heart of gentleness is the belief that “I do not need to control you.”

Those who know God’s heart must accept that we will not attempt to control the person in trouble and vulnerable! Restoration without control!
