Set Your Face Like Flint

| Faith

Question, what are we to set our focus on? We’re not just looking onto Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith, but as our master example of someone who stayed focused. This is what the Bible is talking about when it says Jesus “set His face like a flint.”

“I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. “For the Lord GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.” (Isa 50:6-7)

Flint is a hard and unyielding substance, which gives us a picture of Jesus’ determination to stay focused.

During times of intense pressure, you might not know how you’re going to make it. But if you will follow Jesus’ example by focusing on the joy set before you, God will lift you up and help you begin to see your future and your hope.

Just as Jesus had to deal with all kinds of focus-breakers, so will you. All kinds of things will threaten to break your focus. But no matter what, you must determine to keep your eyes fixed on the goal, because whatever you stay focused on, you will accomplish.

Sit down and conduct an inventory of what needs to change in your life. Then push back all distractions, and find some time in your life to discover what God is saying about your life. Don’t just read the Word, but let God’s Word speak to you!
