Recovering From Life’s Tragedy

| Hope

“And David Got Up From The Ground…”

The emotional recovery from a time of pain and tragedy sometimes take much longer than we think. David’s son had tragically died. He laid on the ground for days. (imagine laying on the ground for days)

David’s handling of tragedy gives up hope that we don’t have to stay down. It is a simple but profound verse, that helped me throughout my life to get up, when everything in me wanted to stay down.

“Then David got up from the ground…” No prophetic word, no angelic encounter, just a desire to say enough is enough, I have to live!

The way David handled himself becomes a guideline for us.

David cleansed himself. Put on some fresh clothes. Came into the house of the Lord and worshipped. He returned to his house he sat down to eat, and said, “I can’t bring the dead back, but I can go to him.” (2 Sam 12:20)

David did not cave in or give up.

“Then David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and slept with her. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, and David named him Solomon.” The Lord loved the child…” (verse 25)

Out of your greatest tragedy can come your greatest blessing! Don’t stay down. It’s time to get up from the ground. A new day awaits you!
