“It’s Not My Fault!”

“It’s Not My Fault!”

If you ask someone why they are so angry all of the time, they often won’t tell you it’s because of selfishness and impatience in their own heart. No, they will blame others who make them angry and unhappy.

The truth is this, my biggest problem in life does not exist outside of me; it exists within me. Jesus addressed this and so much more in Matthew 5:22-28, in the Sermon on the Mount.

Sometimes you and I don’t need to be rescued from difficult people and stressful situations. No, we need to be rescued from ourselves. We may be able to change our circumstances, but we have no ability to rid ourselves from the destructive patterns of selfishness that are in our hearts.

Today, even though life will be hard and people will press your buttons, don’t say, “It’s not my fault.” Instead, pray like David:

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)
