God Wants To Heal Your Damaged Emotions.
This morning as I prepare for Sunday this verse is screaming at me to share with those who need God to heal their emotions… “He restores my soul!” (Ps. 23:3)
You got hurt, you’ve beat yourself up because of discouragement, depression and despair. You’re tired of feeling like a failure. Your frustrations and fear got the best of you.
We all have hidden hurts from our past. We carry wounds, battle scars, emotional garbage. God wants to take away your emotional baggage and wants to restore your soul. God wants YOU to let HIM remove the guilt. He wants to restore your emotional stability. Nothing destroys a soul faster than guilt.
There are two problems with negative guilt. One, we all have plenty of reasons to feel guilty. We are all imperfect. We all make mistakes. By nature we carry guilt in our lives. Secondly, we can’t get away from it. It’s in our mind, even if we move to a new place, we carry a guilty conscience with us.
“The Lord gave us a mind and a conscience. We cannot hide from ourselves.” (Prov 20:27) You can deny it, pretend it doesn’t exist. You can bury the past, how’s that working for you? It hasn’t! Oh, you’re welcome Denying guilt does not relieve guilt.
We, because I am including myself, we beat ourselves up. We self-administer punishment. Subconsciously, we set ourselves up to pay for our sin. Guilt may be the reason you’re sick, depressed and doubt God’s love for you.
There is only ONE solution to your guilt. You’ve got to give it to God. He’s the only one who can remove it. “All of us have sinned… yet God declares us `not guilty’…IF we trust in Jesus Christ, who in mercy freely takes away our sins.” (Romans 3:23-24) Jesus has already paid for all of your sins. IF we TRUST in Jesus Christ, who in mercy freely takes away our sins.
What matters is NOT what you’ve done, but what Jesus has already done for you. “If we trust in Jesus Christ.” You get forgiveness from God by simply TRUSTING. No need to beg, bribe or bargain, you just have to believe. (Sorry it turned into a book but worth it, if but one finds freedom)
