Be Cautious With Your Anger

| Choices

“People with quick tempers cause a lot of quarreling and trouble.” (Prov 29:22)

When you read or hear something that triggers anger in you, pause. Take a deep breath and take a moment. What is going on? The bible does not say that being angry is a bad thing. Jesus got angry at times!

However, the bible does warn us that anger can be dangerous, and that we should be careful with it, “If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day.” (Eph 4:26)

These days, it seems like most of the lashing out is over social media, sometimes at people we’ve never met. We give ourselves permission to take our anger out on them.

Friends, there are things to be angry about in this world. Plenty. When we give our anger to Jesus, it can be a powerful, healing tool for justice and protection.

When we allow it to control us, it can wound and alienate, causing more division and chaos. Be cautious in how you express and act on your anger. Don’t let it lead you into sin!
